When clients say, “We do not want a typical Geinda Mehndi decor,” most wedding stylists and designers would be lost and ask, “What, then?” We at Theme Weavers Designs say — Oh! Why not?

This post is about one such time, when for a daytime Mehndi decor theme and event, we decided to take inspiration from Art and Fashion. According to the client brief, the mehndi decor should be fun and light-hearted. We connected the dots, and we found a fun idea inspired from fashion and art, just what we were looking for. It was going to be Chevron!

Chevron is a retro zigzag pattern which appeared quite prominently in modern and contemporary art, and it’s a go-to design for fashion and art designers. Mainly, because the pattern never really goes out of style and it manages to stand out despite its simplicity. Here’s what happened when we decided to go for a fashion and art inspired Mehndi décor, we’d like to call — The Amazing Chevron Mehndi!

The Entry!

Nothing is grander than elephants and who better to give a grand welcome to the guests than two elephants installed right at the entrance gate. The elephant installations were decorated with chevron prints in blue and yellow, perfect for the daytime ceremony.

The Artist Stage

The stage for the artists was going to house quite a few things such as the woofers, lights, microphone stands and of course the music instruments. But the stage had to have the essence of the theme too and that was the challenge. For the backdrop of this stage, we ditched the drapes and fabrics and created door panels that had chevron windows and used some bright colors to light it up. This turned out to be one of the centers of attraction at the event.

Cabanas — Where the fun and frolic unfolded!

For the cabanas where all the activities were to be performed, we used flowing drapes to cover the roof and tied them to the four poles at the corner, allowing enough room for breeze and light. The backdrop was a print of elephants and chevron, keeping it consistent with the theme. The couches and the colorful cushions added the quintessential finishing touch to the tent which made the whole setup look inviting. Needless to say, the activities were super fun in these vivacious cabanas!

Chevron all the way to the top…for the Seating area

Right from the canopies that offered shade from the sun to the poles to the stools, everything was covered with chevron prints of different hues and shades. The poles adorned by canopies in their increasing sizes didn’t fail to capture the guests’ attention.

The Hashtag!

A perfect spot for some awesome clicks at the venue was this larger-than-life hashtag used for the wedding, which caught everybody’s attention almost instantly. The hashtag #SHISHA was derived from the names of the bride and groom (Shikha and Shailender). It stood right by the pool which made it even more beautiful and picturesque.

The food canopy, but not the usual kind!

How was the food canopy different? First of all, the canopy was not really made from cloth as usual, but from bright-colored paper parasols (Chinese umbrellas). The sides of the canopy were flanked by chevron printed curtains as also the tabletop covers. However for the chairs, we went for the transparent acrylic ones that struck a perfect balance in this rather colorful setting!

Centerpieces — The perfect finishing touch

We at, TWD are known to give attention to detail and our centerpieces are never overlooked as we believe every little thing matters. For this Mehndi ceremony, we decided to go with the bright and vibrant theme and used an arrangement of bottles, flower buckets and pineapple vases to beautifully string the theme together. The bottles were decorated with the Mehndi designs that looked stunningly intricate.

The smallest details in the styling made up a dreaming setting for this mehndi and captured everything to be loved in an Indian wedding. Don’t you just love the laser-cut details, colorful fabrics and playful photo backdrops?
